I’ve been honored to be a part of a couple television series while shooting their final episodes. The comradery often gets very palpable. These projects you’ve invested so much of your time, energy & soul into with others who believe in it as much as you become a part of your life & who you are, especially as an actor. There’s a joy in finishing the story on your terms as a collective creative group, but there’s also a sadness in knowing it’s done forever.
There’s so much incredible TV on now. It’s actually kind of overwhelming. A couple of my all-time favs are calling it a run after 2019. Game of Thrones will finally get to see the victors of the eight-season battle for Westoros & beyond, and later this year, Homeland will wrap up also.
These two shows especially have challenged me as a viewer like I haven’t been by a series since Boardwalk Empire or Oz. As exciting as it is to see how it’s all going to play out, there’s always a sadness in knowing you won’t be able to see more. But that’s what spin-offs, sequels & prequels are for…
Even though it takes me a couple years of searching to find something I reeeally like for more than a couple seasons, I’m looking forward to the new batch of content that is already flooding out to see what’s going to be the next great show.
Now GoT is one of the most layered, complex, spanning shows I’ve ever seen & you need to pay attention all the time or you miss things. That said, getting clear on it takes a direct approach. So, as we ready for the end of GoT, let’s get a quick review of where we left things with a little help from a very direct mother-fucker, Samuel L. Jackson.
