Well it has been a year of unexpected victories & favorites being cast aside. The New England Patriots –usually the favorite in the NFL –assumed the early underdog role for the first time in quarterback Tom Brady’s Superbowl history, but overcame those odds to defeated the L.A. Rams with one minute to go. Over in the NHL, the Boston Bruins lost two straight attempts to clinch after leading 3-2, & had to watch the St. Louis Blues raise their first Stanley Cup. & now the Toronto Raptors are the first non-US based NBA franchise to win the Larry O’Brien trophy, dispatching the injury-riddled two-time champion & heavily favored Golden State Warriors.
Victories can be few & fleeting in any competitive sporting environment. Or with many aspects of life! So when you get to experience them, you’d better appreciate to the fullest.
As for the odds-makers & betters… well, ya can’t win ’em all, folks. That’s why they play the games.
It’s great to be considered among the best. In any field. While focusing on getting better is the base aspiration, the inspiration, should always be becoming the best version of yourself. As a collective or as part of a unit. & when you get there, when you see the view from the top, it’s an affirmation of your dedicated, focused, committed work manifested before you. I’m about that. It’s my hope everyone of us on this earth would be. How’s that for optimism? 😉
The Raptors took to the streets of Toronto today to celebrate their history-making run & improbable win. A spectacle of grand proportions. Wish I was there to join in the revelry, but I was there in spirit at least.
Congratulations, Raps! Thank you for one hell of a ride.
